D.C. Is Ninth Most Miserable Sports City in U.S.

Really? Yes, because of the lack of championships. Let’s hope RGIII, Alfred Morris, the great 8, John Wall, Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg can do something about it in D.C.’s future.

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Washington, D.C. ranks as the ninth most miserable sports city in the United States according to a new list released by Forbes.

Sports fans in the nation’s capital haven’t been able to celebrate a championship in a major professional sport in more than two decades. The last team to take home a title was the Washington Redskins who defeated the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl in 1992.

Since then, bupkis.

Nothing more from the Redskins, zilch from the Capitals, nada from the Wizards, and zippy from the Nationals in the past 21 years.

That’s not to say there haven’t been a sprinkling of great moments during that stretch, but a drought is a drought.

Ever optimistic, some fans say the current crop of young stars will yield a championship parade down Constitution Avenue in the near future.
